Apple Specialty Vinegar

5 apples, peeled and diced
1/2 cup flour
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tbsp butter
1/4 cup butter, slightly softened
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
Vanilla ice cream
Directions
Preheat oven to 410°F.
In a large bowl, combine the brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg and add the apples. Mix well to coat.
In a hot frying pan, melt 1 tbsp of butter. Add the apples and cook. Once they have browned a little, deglaze with 3 tbsp of apple vinegar. Cover the pan and leave to caramelize.
Leave to cool.
In a bowl, add the flour and softened butter. Knead with your fingetips to obtain a crumbly, sand-like dough.
Pour the caramelized apples into an ovenproof dish. Sprinkle the dough over the apples.
Bake for 1 hour.
Remove the crumble from the oven and serve warm with a scoop (or two) of vanilla ice cream.
